What, when and where?

enthusiasts Welcome to VIRA's home. VIRA is all about common sense in astrophysics and cosmology. Ever since the beginning of 20th sentury common sense seems to have fallen out of fashion in physics in general and in astrophysics and cosmology in particular. For those who think that the Big Bang is the greatest thing ever thought of: this site will probably not agree well with you. Proceed further on your own risk.

What and when?

VIRA stands for "Virtual Institute of Rational Astrophysics". It has been established in December 2007 by a group of like-minded enthusiasts. VIRA is a privately funded research organization focused on high-quality fundamental and experimental studies in selected areas of astrophysics and cosmology. The members of the institute share the ideas that motivated its foundation, and contribute toward the achievement of its mission.

Where?

Being a virtual entity, VIRA does not have a physical location; not even in Second Life. VIRA's members reside all over the world. The institute's funding, on the other hand, is provided by the bulgarian Communitas Foundation whose headquarters are in Sofia, Bulgaria.
