Events
June 16th, 2008 The 34th International Conference on Application of Mathematics in Engineering and Economics (AMEE'08) was held June 6-12, 2008 in Sozopol, Bulgaria AMEE'08. Approximately 70 scientists from 17 countries (Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Cyprus, Estonia, France, Germany, Korea, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Serbia, Spain, Turkey, UK, Ukraine, USA) attended the Conference and reported cutting edge research results in applied mathematics, physics and engineering. The venue of the conference included plenary talks (60 minutes), key talks of the special sessions (45 minutes), invited talks at the special sessions (30 minutes) and contributed talks (20 minutes). The Virtual Institute or Rational Astrophysics was represented at the conferences by its member, Prof. Christo I. Christov, who delivered key talk "On the Effect of the Interstellar Dissipation/Dispersion on Red-shifting of Spectral Lines (Wave Packages)". The talk was received with interest and provoked a lively discussion. Prof. Christov was also chair of the international program committee.
Jan. 1st, 2008 Albeit not entirely functional, VIRA's webpage is up and online.

What, when and where?
Welcome to VIRA's home.
VIRA is
all about common sense in astrophysics and cosmology.
Ever since the beginning of 20th sentury common sense seems to have fallen out of fashion in physics
in general and in astrophysics and cosmology in particular. For those who think that the
Big Bang is the greatest thing ever thought of: this site will probably not agree well
with you. Proceed further on your own risk.
What and when?
VIRA stands for "Virtual Institute of Rational Astrophysics". It has been established in December 2007 by a group of like-minded enthusiasts. VIRA is a privately funded research organization focused on high-quality fundamental and experimental studies in selected areas of astrophysics and cosmology. The members of the institute share the ideas that motivated its foundation, and contribute toward the achievement of its mission.
Where?
Being a virtual entity, VIRA does not have a physical location; not even in Second Life. VIRA's members reside all over the world. The institute's funding, on the other hand, is provided by the bulgarian Communitas Foundation whose headquarters are in Sofia, Bulgaria.
